Today I was at Ashbrook. I helped a long-term sub get set up on NCWISE and helped Mrs. Bartlett with her website. Ashbrook had several SMART boards installed today and Mrs. Carver and I went ahead and set up dates for SMART training.

A took a few minutes at lunch to work on a laptop issue at Gardner Park with Mrs. Mathews at the newcomer center, but she was not able to make the appointment.

Tuesday, Jan. 18

Today I took a half-day in the morning. When I got in, I worked on rescheduling some remaining things from the snow and then I checked out the new SMART installs at Gardner Park. They look pretty good except for some Notebook software problems in two room and some questions I have about the way the screens are hooked up. After school was TRICKS at Woodhill.

SNOW SNOW SNOW!

Whew, Lots of snow, lots to update.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 10, 11, 12 - No school due to snow. I took these days off.

Thursday, Jan. 13 - Snow day, no students. Back to school, I went in and worked with whoever needed me. I ended up going to Gardner Park and Grier

I may have found the answer to our speaker questions. I think the DVD and Discovery Streaming playback is stuck on Dolby 5.1 and we are not hearing the center channel. For DVD we can just switch from Media Player to PowerDVD, but for Discovery Streaming, we need Media player. Now to find a video that shows this problem and figure out how to turn off 5.1

Friday, Jan. 14 - Snow day, no students. I went in again. Many teachers were out. I helped out at Gardner Park and Ashbrook.

busy Busy Busy

Monday 1/3 - Back from break. Today I spend the day at Ashbrook, mainly working with Mrs. Nelli on a presentation she has to give to district officials on PLCs. I convinced her to do a Notebook presentation on the SMART board. I think her buy-in on SMART will be important to help win over teachers. I also did some other teacher support.

Tuesday 1/4 - I started at Ashbrook, continuting to work on the presentation. Later I went by McAdenville to troubleshoot some problems with the new NCWISE updates. I later went by Lowell and Gardner Park doing the same. In the afternoon, I attended TRICKS at Woodhill

Wednesday 1/5 - I assisted with SMART developing Day three at Cherryville all day.

Thursday, 1/6 - At Sherwood today. I met with Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Kennedy to finalize and upload the Rules of divisibility movie to teachertube. It turned out great! The movie can be seen here. I also worked on ironing out some final NCWISE issues. I also prepared a Notebook file for Mrs. Andrews to use with 5th graders learning pre-algebra concepts. I headed over to Gardner Park for a short while to meet with Shay Matthews. She is concerned about the speed of the SMART initiative and I assured her that she is ahead of the curve. She is supposed to have 6-7 boards installed within the next week.

Friday, 1/7 - I spent the full day at Lowell and worked with a number of teachers on SMART, general issues future training possibilities. One problem that might be a big issue for SMART installs is that the heating units in many of the rooms seem to aim directly at where projectors will go. This is already causing a projector in one room to overheat.
